Ring
Precision Components, a business unit of the Producto
Corporation,
was founded in 1945 under the name of the Ring Punch & Die
Company on the strength of a patent obtained by one of the
founders. The assigned patent dealt with a means of retaining
punches and dies in their respective plates, using a lock-washer
ring, hence the name Ring. Today Ring Precision Components
is one of the eight major punch companies in the United States
manufacturing precision tooling components for the metal
stamping & forming, plastic injection molding
and rubber molding industries. Ring Precision Components
also manufactures OEM components
for a wide variety of markets including aerospace, automotive,
electronics,
and medical-pharmaceutical.
Ring Precision
Components also manufactures a complete line of leader
pins and guide
bushings. Pins
ranging in size from 1⁄2 to 3 inch diameter
and up to 28 inches in length, and a complementary
line
of bushings
including
ball bearing style and solid bronze, all produced
to precision tolerances.

Ring Precision Components is one of two separate
business units within Producto. Tooling
Components and Systems (TC&S) located in Bridgeport
CT, is a major manufacturer of die sets, mold bases, and contract machining
services. Tooling Components & Systems also designs and
builds thermoform tools for the food packaging industry,
as well as various
consumer and
industrial customers.
Producto,
in addition to having complete manufacturing facilities
in Jamestown and Bridgeport, has seventy-four distributor
service organizations located throughout the United
States, Canada
and Mexico. In 1998, Producto acquired DIECO and
operates it as a subsidiary company. DIECO has facilities
in Solon Ohio, and manufactures die sets as well
as distributes toolmaking supplies such as die springs,
pins & bushings
and punches & dies.
Today,
Producto is part of the PMT Group headquartered in Bridgeport,
CT.
Other
operating subsidiaries within the PMT Group
include the Moore Tool Company also located
in Bridgeport, and Moore
Nanotechnology Systems located in Keene
NH. Moore Tool manufactures machine tools
and systems for manufacturing companies requiring
high productivity and high precision solutions.
Moore is the worldwide leader for jig grinders
and high precision measuring systems. Moore
Nanotechnology Systems is dedicated to the
development of ultra-precision machining
systems, typically utilizing single point
diamond turning and deterministic micro-grinding
technologies for the production of electro
and freeform optics and other high precision
parts. Part tolerances to one-millionth of
an inch (25 nanometers) are typical for many
customers.
